Johannes Halbes Halbesma born 14 March 1866 in Brantgum, Friesland, Nederland, died 8 February 1954 in Leeuwarden Nederland.
From the Complete Halbesma Family Tree found in the Archives of Friesland by Martyntje Van Veezel Errens (nee Halbesma), which has 1967 as the last date recorded the following information was extacted.
Johannes was a Baker in Holwerd, Ternaard en Nes (W.D.), till about 1909 to De Hoeve (W.St.) then Farmer/Cattleman for about 12 year, Sedertdien near Leeuwarden.
On 12 may 1892 he married Tetje Alderts de Graaf in West Dongeradeel, who could have been his boss' daughter as he also was a baker. She was born in 1866 in Holwerd. The marraige was dissolved due to Divorce, the resolution was pronounced on 27 September 1906 in the District Court Leeuwarden and finalised on 9 November 1906.
Some information suggests that this wife may have had mental problems and was placed in an Institution.
They had a daughter Grietje Johannes Halbesma born 18 August 1893 born in Holwerd. From about 1922 to August 1930 she lived in Gem. Weststellingwerf, then moved near Franeker. see her details.
For some years he had a housekeeper, Jantje Minnes BOELENS, who was employed to help him care for the house and the child. They had four children out of wedlock before Johannes married her as they had to wait for the divorce from his first wife in 26 September 1906. He married her a month after his divorce was finalised.

The children born before they married were Anna Johannes, born 10 February 1898, died 31 January 1959 de Hoeve; Syds Johannes, born 12 November 1901, died 23 February 1972 Leeuwarden; Jan Johannes born 15 January 1905, died 11 December 1980; and Martje Johannes born 19 August 1906, Died 3 February 1997 Leeuwarden.
Because Johannes and Jantje were not married these children had their mother's surname of BOELENS and later they had that name changed by deed-poll to HALBESMA.
