GEORGE JOHN MEDHURST; starting when he was 13 years, George was the mail contractor of the area, spanning a great part of the New England, on packhorses. He completed 52 years of service, helping people in the backblocks.
DONALD FRANCIS MEDHURST; his son, at the age of 11 years he began helping his father on the mail run. He served 60 years and in 1960 was awarded an M.B.E., one of the few mail contractors to have been awarded this honor.
NORMAN JOHN MEDHURST; Duncan's son took over the mail contract and held it till 1978.
This mail run was followed on by Norman's JOHN GRAHAM MEDHURST (4th Generation-mail-men) helping his father, completing 80 years tradition, claiming this to be a record.
