LABAN DAVIS. = Glen Innes Examiner 8. 12. 1891
Master Laban Davis had a most uncomfortable experience on Saturday 5th. He, in company with his brother, was taking a bath under the willows in the Furracabad Creek. As the boy was frollocing in the water, his brother on the bank saw a brown snake wriggling his way straight torwards the bather, and he fortwith courageously threw himself between his brother and the snake. The infuriated reptile then turned on the recuer and bit his leg. The boy alarmed with haste, remounted his horse and galloped to town to charge Dr. MacLachlin. The poor boy is said to have suffered agony for an hour or more, subsequent to the bite. He is now no worse but scared to death of snakes.
After this snake bite was reported, Laban carried a small bottle of Condy's Crystals in a pouch on his belt, he was bitten on once or more occasions.
This bottle with the original Crystals is still in possesion of Gary Davis, a grandson.
Laban Davis was the second person in the Bonshaw area who owned a Model "T" Ford Car.
